Fundamentals of Judaism

The most essential pulse of Jewish religious life is the “written Torah”, given by G”d, the so called fist five books of the Bible. It contains the once and for all given “613 commandments and interdictions”. A perpetual discussion of the Jewish scribes tries to customize these commandments and interdictions with the requirements and questions of nowadays Jewish generations.

The “oral Torah” is the result of this perpetual struggle and endeavor of scribes for thousands of years and it has, according to Jewish belief, the same divine status as the “written Torah”.

The museum demonstrates the never-ending process of G”d’s revelation that expresses itself in a constantly changing Jewish life of the “Halacha”.  And it shows in detail the task of a Torah scribe, who not only fabricates the Torah Scrolls, but also the Mezuzot and the Tefillin.
